Odoo Sales Implementation

Odoo Sales is the quotation and order management application within Odoo ERP, turning a priced quotation into a confirmed sales order that drives delivery and invoicing. It replaces the Word templates, ad hoc discounts, and re-keyed orders that make selling slower than it needs to be. At Adatasol, we’re a certified, U.S.-based Odoo Ready Partner, and we implement, migrate, integrate, and customize Odoo Sales around how your team sells.

What Is Odoo Sales?

Odoo Sales is the quotation and order management application within Odoo ERP, distinct from Odoo CRM but connected to it. CRM manages the pursuit of a deal; Sales manages the commercial document, the quotation, the confirmed sales order, the pricing behind it, and the delivery and invoicing that follow. The business problem it solves is a quoting process that lives outside the business: when quotes are built in Word or Excel, pricing depends on who wrote the quote, order details get re-typed into another system, and nobody can say what was actually promised to the customer.

We implement Odoo Sales as the commercial engine of your ERP, connected to inventory, purchasing, and accounting rather than sitting beside them. As a certified Odoo Ready Partner, we design your products, pricelists, quotation templates, and order flow around how your team actually sells.

What Odoo solvesHow it helps your sales team
Quotes built in Word and ExcelQuotation templates produce a consistent, priced document that customers can review, sign, and pay online when confirmation settings and a payment provider are configured.
Inconsistent pricing and discountsPricelists apply the right prices and rules per customer, quantity, or segment, based on how you configure them.
Orders re-typed into other systemsA confirmed sales order can create the delivery and the invoice according to your configuration.
Slow quote turnaroundProduct data, templates, and optional products let a rep build an accurate quote in minutes.
No view of what was promisedThe sales order records what was quoted, agreed, and confirmed, with the customer’s online confirmation attached.

Core Sales Processes Odoo Manages

Odoo Sales runs the commercial cycle from quotation through confirmed order to invoicing, which means it is the system of record for what you sold rather than a document generator. Below are the core processes it manages, all of which we configure to match how you sell.

ProcessWhat Odoo does
QuotationsBuilds priced quotations from your product catalog, with terms, validity dates, and quotation templates.
Quotation templatesReuses standard structures, products, and terms so reps produce consistent quotes at speed.
Sales ordersConverts an accepted quotation into a confirmed sales order, which becomes the reference for delivery and invoicing.
Products and variantsManages your catalog with attributes, variants, units of measure, and product-level sales settings.
PricelistsApplies pricing rules by customer, segment, quantity, currency, or date, including discounts and price computation.
Optional and related productsPresents upsell and cross-sell items on the quotation, which the customer can add from the portal.
Online confirmationLets customers confirm through online signature and online payment on the quotation, when those settings are enabled.
Customer portalGives customers access to their quotations, orders, deliveries, and invoices in one place.
Invoicing policyInvoices on ordered quantities or delivered quantities, according to the policy you set per product.
Delivery and fulfillment handoffPasses confirmed order lines to Inventory as delivery requirements, based on your configured routes.
Down paymentsCreates percentage-based or fixed-amount down-payment invoices from confirmed sales orders when required.
Returns and credit notesHandles returned goods and credit notes through the connected Inventory and Accounting workflows.

Key Odoo Sales Features We Help Configure

Beyond the commercial fundamentals, Odoo Sales includes features that shorten the distance between a request and a signed order. We configure each of these to your workflows during Odoo implementation.

Quotation templates Build reusable templates with standard products, terms, and optional add-ons so a rep is not rebuilding a proposal from scratch on each deal.

Pricelists and discount rules Apply pricing by customer, quantity, currency, segment, or date, with discount rules that reflect your commercial policy rather than each rep’s judgment.

Product variants and configurators Drive variants from product attributes so a configurable product does not need a separate record for each combination.

Optional and related products Offer upsells and accessories on the quotation itself, including items the customer can add from the portal without contacting a rep.

Online signature and online payment Let customers sign and pay from the quotation in their portal. These are Sales app settings, and they are distinct from the separate Sign app for signing arbitrary contracts and documents.

Customer portal Give customers self-service access to quotations, orders, delivery status, and invoices, which cuts the volume of status-check emails your team answers.

Invoicing policy control Set invoicing on ordered or delivered quantities per product, so what you bill matches what you agreed and what you shipped.

Margin visibility on the quote Show cost and margin on quotation lines so reps can see the effect of a discount before they offer it.

Sales analytics Report on orders, revenue, product mix, and team performance from live order data rather than a monthly export.

How Odoo Connects Sales With Your Business Operations

The advantage of Odoo Sales is that it is not a standalone quoting tool. Because it lives inside the Odoo ERP, a confirmed order can move into fulfillment, procurement, production, and invoicing with less re-keying between systems. We build these connections during implementation and integrate Odoo with your systems so order data moves according to your configuration.

Odoo CRM & Sales A quotation is created from a qualified opportunity and becomes a sales order on confirmation, with the opportunity marked won separately, so deal context carries into the commercial document.

Odoo Inventory & Sales Confirmed sales orders create delivery orders and reserve stock according to your configured reservation and routing rules.

Odoo Accounting & Sales Sales orders generate customer invoices according to your invoice policy, on ordered or delivered quantities, and revenue posts through your configured accounting setup.

Odoo Purchase & Sales Sales demand can drive purchase proposals through reordering rules, and make-to-order or dropship routes can generate a purchase order from a confirmed sales order.

Odoo Manufacturing & Sales Confirmed sales orders can trigger make-to-order production through defined routes, so a customer commitment becomes a scheduled build.

Odoo eCommerce & Sales Online orders arrive as sales orders in the same system as your rep-created orders, drawing on the same products, pricelists, and stock.

Reports and Documents You Can Generate in Odoo Sales

Odoo Sales produces the commercial documents your customers receive and the reports your managers use to see what is actually selling, generated from live order data rather than assembled by hand. We also build custom formats through Odoo customization when you need a document or view the standard reports do not cover.

Quotation and Sales Order Documents

The priced, branded documents your customer opens, signs, and pays, produced from your templates and product data.

Pro-Forma Invoices

Pre-invoice documents for customers who need one before a formal invoice is issued.

Sales Analysis

Orders and revenue by period, product, customer, salesperson, and team, so you can see what is selling and to whom.

Product and Category Performance

Volume, revenue, and configured sales margin by product and category, which shows where your catalog is actually earning.

Salesperson and Team Performance

Results by rep and team against targets, drawn from confirmed orders rather than a self-reported spreadsheet.

Margin and Discount Reporting

Quoted and ordered margin based on configured product cost, together with the discounts applied to each sale, so discounting is visible rather than assumed.

Customer Order History

What each customer has quoted, ordered, received, and been invoiced for, in one record.

Key Benefits of Odoo Sales

Quotes that go out the same day

Quotation templates, pricelists, and a structured catalog mean a rep assembles a priced, accurate proposal in minutes instead of rebuilding one in a document and checking prices with someone else.

Pricing that reflects your policy, not the rep’s mood

Pricelists and discount rules put your commercial policy into the system, so the price a customer sees follows the rules you set rather than the negotiating instincts of whoever picked up the call.

A confirmed order that moves into fulfillment

Once a quotation is confirmed, Odoo can create the required delivery, procurement, production, and invoicing records according to your configured products, routes, and invoicing policies, which reduces the gap between a closed deal and a shipped product.

Customers who can serve themselves

The portal lets customers review quotations and orders, accept optional products, sign or pay when enabled, and access the related commercial documents available to them, which cuts the status emails your team answers and frees them for the deals that need attention.

Margin visible before the discount is given

Reps can see cost and margin on the quotation line, so a discount is a decision made with the number in view rather than an apology delivered to finance later.

Room to grow across teams and channels

The same setup supports multiple sales teams, currencies, pricelists, and channels including eCommerce, so growth does not force you into a second sales system.

Which Businesses Should Use Odoo Sales?

Odoo Sales fits any business that quotes before it invoices, and it is strongest where pricing is structured, catalogs are large, or orders need to drive fulfillment. We implement Odoo Sales across a range of industries.

Manufacturing Quote-driven B2B selling with configurable products, variant pricing, and orders that trigger production or procurement.

Wholesale & Distribution Customer-specific pricelists, volume and tiered pricing, high repeat order volume, and orders that flow straight into picking.

Healthcare Structured quoting and ordering for supplies and equipment, with controlled pricing and a documented order record.

Our Odoo Sales Implementation Process

We follow a structured implementation process that reduces risk and gets your reps quoting inside Odoo quickly. Each phase has a clear outcome, so you can see where the project stands.

  1. Discovery: we map how you quote, price, discount, approve, and invoice, and we review your product and customer data.
  2. Blueprint: we define the catalog structure, pricelists, templates, invoicing policy, and integrations required.
  3. Configuration: we set up products, pricelists, quotation templates, teams, and reports in your selected Odoo environment.
  4. Data migration: we import products, customers, pricing, and open orders, then validate pricing against known quotes.
  5. Integration: we connect Sales to CRM, Inventory, Purchase, and Accounting.
  6. Testing & training: we run real quotes end to end, check the resulting orders and invoices, and train your team.
  7. Go-live & support: we launch, monitor the first orders through to invoice, and support your team.

Odoo Sales Data Migration Services

We can run your Odoo data migration from a legacy ERP, an order management system, or spreadsheets into Odoo Sales without losing the pricing and history your customers expect you to honor. Migration is where sales projects most often stumble, because a mismapped pricelist or a wrong unit of measure produces quotes that are confidently, invisibly wrong.

  • Products, variants, attributes, units of measure, and categories
  • Customers, contacts, delivery and invoicing addresses, and payment terms
  • Pricelists, customer-specific pricing, and discount structures
  • Open quotations and confirmed sales orders not yet delivered or invoiced
  • Historical order data where you need it for reporting and customer history
  • Validation against known quotes so prices come out the same in the new system

If a previous migration has already left your pricing or product data in a poor state, we can stabilize a failed migration and revalidate it.

Odoo Sales Automation Services

We automate the quoting and order admin that slows your reps down, using Odoo’s built-in tools and custom workflow automation where needed. Automation is what shortens the distance between an accepted quote and a shipped order.

  • Quotations generated from templates with pricing applied by pricelist rules
  • Automated quotation follow-ups and expiry reminders
  • Delivery orders created from confirmed sales orders through defined routes
  • Invoices generated on ordered or delivered quantities per your invoicing policy
  • Purchase or manufacturing orders triggered by make-to-order and dropship routes
  • Approval requests routed when a discount or order value crosses a threshold you set
  • Upsell and optional product suggestions presented on the quotation and in the portal

Odoo Sales Customization Services

When the standard module does not cover a requirement, we can extend the standard sales workflow and build new capability through custom development. We design customizations to reduce maintenance and upgrade risk so your sales module stays workable across Odoo versions.

  • Custom quotation and order document layouts
  • Custom pricing logic, rebates, and complex discount structures
  • Product configurators for made-to-order or highly configurable products
  • Commission calculation and payout reporting
  • Approval workflows for discounts, credit limits, and order sign-off
  • Integrations with eCommerce platforms, EDI partners, CPQ tools, and payment providers

Why Odoo Sales Implementations Fail (and How We Prevent It)

Most failed Odoo Sales projects fail for a handful of preventable reasons, and the majority trace back to product and pricing data that was wrong before the first quote went out. We’re structured to reduce these risks, and to fix them when another provider has already caused them.

Common failureHow we reduce the risk
Pricelists that produce the wrong priceWe build pricing rules against your real commercial policy and validate them against quotes you have already issued.
Messy product and unit-of-measure dataWe structure the catalog, attributes, variants, and units before configuration, because quoting inherits the errors in it.
Invoicing policy set without financeWe agree ordered versus delivered invoicing per product with your finance team, so billing matches what you shipped.
Reps quoting outside the systemWe build templates and catalogs that make quoting in Odoo faster than the document they used before, then train on real deals.
Discounting with no visibility or controlWe surface margin on the quote and route discounts above your threshold through approval.
Sales disconnected from fulfillmentWe connect Sales to Inventory, Purchase, and Accounting so a confirmed order moves rather than waiting to be re-keyed.
Over-customized and hard to maintainWe use standard pricelists, templates, and routes where they will do the job, and design customizations to reduce upgrade risk.

If your Odoo Sales is already live but not working, we can stabilize a failed implementation, diagnose the issues, and help restore a quote-to-cash flow your team can rely on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Odoo Sales free?

Odoo Sales is available in Community and Enterprise, and Odoo also offers a One App Free plan covering one selected application and its required dependencies for unlimited users on Odoo Online. Core quotation and sales-order management is available in Community, while your edition and plan affect access to additional applications, hosting options, support, customization, and connected services. We review your requirements through our Odoo Licensing service before recommending a setup.

What is the difference between Odoo Sales Community and Enterprise?

Both editions support the core quotation-to-order process. Enterprise provides access to Odoo’s wider licensed application set and services, including applications such as Subscriptions, Sign, and Studio when included in your plan. The right choice depends on whether you need recurring billing, broader document signing, no-code customization, managed hosting, or other Enterprise capabilities, which we assess with you before you commit.

What is the difference between Odoo CRM and Odoo Sales?

Odoo CRM manages the pursuit of a deal, including leads, opportunities, pipeline stages, and activities. Odoo Sales manages the commercial document, including the quotation, pricing, the confirmed sales order, and the invoicing that follows. A quotation is created from an opportunity, becomes a sales order on confirmation, and the opportunity is marked won separately. Most teams run both, and we configure the handoff between them.

Can customers sign and pay a quotation online?

Yes, when configured. Online Signature and Online Payment are settings in the Sales app, and customers confirm the quotation from their portal with a signature and, where enabled, a payment. This is separate from the Sign app, which is an Enterprise application for signing contracts and other documents.

Does Odoo Sales handle customer-specific pricing and discounts?

Yes. Pricelists apply pricing by customer, customer group, quantity, currency, date, or product category, and they support discount rules and price computation from cost or list price. We build the pricing rules to match your commercial policy and validate them against quotes you have already issued.

When does Odoo create the invoice, at order or at delivery?

That depends on the invoicing policy you set per product. Odoo can invoice on ordered quantities or on delivered quantities, and the policy determines when the invoice can be generated from the sales order. We set this with your finance team, because getting it wrong is one of the most common sources of billing disputes.

Does Odoo Sales connect to inventory and manufacturing?

Yes, when configured. A confirmed sales order can create a delivery order and reserve stock in Odoo Inventory, and make-to-order routes can trigger a purchase order or a production run in Odoo Manufacturing. We build these routes during implementation.

Does Odoo Sales support recurring billing and subscriptions?

Recurring revenue is handled by the Subscriptions app, which is part of Enterprise. It manages recurring plans, renewals, and automatic billing cycles from a quotation. If subscriptions are central to your model, that shapes the edition decision, and we assess it with you before you commit.

How much does Odoo Sales implementation cost?

Cost depends on the number of users, the edition, the size and complexity of your catalog and pricing rules, the integrations and customizations you need, and the state of your existing product and customer data. We scope your requirements and give you a clear estimate. See our pricing and licensing details, or schedule a consultation.

How long does Odoo Sales implementation take?

Timelines depend on scope. A focused setup on a clean catalog with straightforward pricing can go live in a few weeks, while implementations involving complex pricelists, migration, eCommerce, and manufacturing routes take longer. We give you a timeline after discovery.

What data can be migrated into Odoo Sales?

We can migrate your sales data, including products, variants, units of measure, customers and contacts, payment terms, pricelists and customer-specific pricing, open quotations, confirmed orders, and historical order data, from legacy ERPs, order management systems, and spreadsheets, with pricing validated against known quotes before go-live.

What does Adatasol need from your sales team?

We need your product and pricing data, your discount and approval policy, a walkthrough of how a deal moves from quote to invoice today, your invoicing rules from finance, and a point of contact for review and testing. We keep the demand on your team light and structured.
