Odoo eCommerce Implementation

Odoo eCommerce is the online store application within Odoo ERP, where a website order flows into the same system that holds your stock, your pricing, and your books. It replaces the storefront that syncs overnight and disagrees with your business by morning. At Adatasol, we’re a certified, U.S.-based Odoo Ready Partner, and we implement, migrate, integrate, and customize Odoo eCommerce around how you sell online.

What Is Odoo eCommerce?

Odoo eCommerce is the online store application within Odoo ERP, built on the Website builder and running on the same product, pricing, stock, and customer records as the rest of your business. Odoo creates a quotation when items enter the cart, and that quotation becomes a confirmed sales order once payment is confirmed or a user confirms it, depending on the payment method and settings you configure. From there it can create a delivery through your configured routes and be invoiced according to your configuration. The business problem it solves is the integration tax: when your store is a separate platform, you pay for connectors, you reconcile stock between two systems, and the answer to “is this in stock” depends on which system you ask and how recently they spoke.

We implement Odoo eCommerce as a sales channel of your ERP rather than a website bolted onto it. As a certified Odoo Ready Partner, we configure your catalog, pricing, tax display, payment providers, and delivery methods around how you actually sell, and we plan the migration to reduce the risk to the search traffic you already have.

What Odoo solvesHow it helps your online store
A storefront that syncs overnightOnline orders flow into the same database as quotations and confirmed orders, drawing on the same products, pricing, and stock.
Connector fees and order reconciliationThe store, stock, and accounting share one record set, which removes the storefront-to-ERP bridge you would otherwise maintain.
Overselling stock you do not haveAvailability can be published and out-of-stock behavior configured, so the website reflects what you can actually ship.
Prices and taxes that differ onlinePricelists, taxes, and fiscal positions come from the same configuration your other channels use.
Traffic lost in a replatformURL mapping, redirects, metadata, and sitemap validation reduce the risk to the rankings you already have.

Core eCommerce Processes Odoo Manages

Odoo eCommerce runs the path from a product page to a fulfilled, invoiced order, which means the store is an entry point into your operations rather than a system you reconcile against them. Below are the core processes it manages, all of which we configure to match how you sell.

ProcessWhat Odoo does
Website builder and pagesBuilds your storefront, category pages, and content pages with drag-and-drop blocks and reusable templates.
Online product catalogPublishes products, variants, attributes, images, and descriptions from the same catalog your other channels use.
Product availability displayShows stock availability and applies the out-of-stock behavior you configure, including whether customers can continue to order.
Cart and checkoutRuns the cart, address capture, delivery selection, and payment steps of the checkout flow.
Payment providersAccepts online payment through the providers you configure and enable, which vary by country and provider.
Delivery methods and shipping ratesPrices delivery by fixed rate, by rules you define, or through a connected carrier, subject to your edition and provider.
Taxes and fiscal positionsApplies the correct tax and tax display by customer location and type, including tax-included pricing where you sell to consumers.
Cart to quotation to orderCreates a quotation when items enter the cart, then confirms it into a sales order once payment is confirmed or a user confirms it, depending on the payment method and settings.
Customer accounts and portalLets customers register, reorder, track deliveries, and access their invoices and documents.
Pricelists and B2B pricingApplies customer-specific and quantity-based pricing online, so B2B buyers see their negotiated prices.
Promotions, coupons, and gift cardsRuns discount codes, promotional programs, and gift cards against the cart.
SEO configurationManages page titles, descriptions, URLs, sitemaps, and redirects, which is what a replatform depends on to reduce the loss of existing rankings.

Key Odoo eCommerce Features We Help Configure

Beyond publishing a catalog, Odoo eCommerce includes the features that decide whether the store converts and whether the orders it produces are clean. We configure each of these to your workflows during Odoo implementation.

Product pages and variants Publish products with attributes, variant selection, images, and specifications drawn from the catalog your sales team already uses.

Stock availability and out-of-stock behavior Decide what customers see when stock is low or gone, and whether they can order anyway, so the store does not promise what the warehouse cannot ship.

Payment provider configuration Set up and enable the providers you use. Availability depends on your country and provider, and a provider left in test mode is the reason a live store quietly takes no money.

Delivery methods and shipping rules Configure delivery pricing by fixed rate, weight, price, or carrier rate, so you are not absorbing shipping cost you did not charge for.

Tax display and fiscal positions Configure tax-included or tax-excluded display and the fiscal positions that apply the right tax by customer location and type, which is where B2C and B2B stores diverge.

Pricelists for B2B and B2C Apply customer-specific, quantity-based, and segment pricing online, so a logged-in trade buyer sees their price rather than the retail one.

Promotions, coupons, and gift cards Configure the discount codes, promotional rules, and gift cards that your marketing calendar depends on.

Customer accounts and reordering Give customers a place to track orders, download invoices, and reorder, which cuts service email and lifts repeat purchase.

SEO and URL management Configure titles, descriptions, structured URLs, sitemaps, and redirects. Odoo creates redirects when a URL changes inside Odoo, but a move from another platform needs a mapped redirect plan, and on a replatform this is not a finishing touch.

Multi-website, currency, and language Run more than one storefront, currency, or language from the same database and catalog where your market needs it.

How Odoo Connects eCommerce With Your Business Operations

The advantage of Odoo eCommerce is that the store is not a separate system you sync with. Because it lives inside the Odoo ERP, an online order enters the same flow as an order taken by a rep or rung up at a counter. We build these connections during implementation and integrate Odoo with your systems so order data moves according to your configuration.

Odoo Sales & eCommerce A cart becomes a quotation and then a confirmed sales order, using the same products, pricelists, and taxes as your rep-created orders, and it is invoiced according to your configuration.

Odoo Inventory & eCommerce Online orders create delivery orders and draw from the same stock as your other channels, with availability published according to your configuration.

Odoo Accounting & eCommerce Online payments and invoices post through your configured journals. The shared database removes the storefront-to-ERP order reconciliation, while settlements, processing fees, refunds, chargebacks, and bank deposits are still reconciled in accounting.

Odoo CRM & eCommerce Website forms and live chat can create leads in the pipeline when configured, so the store feeds your sales team rather than only your fulfillment team.

Odoo POS & eCommerce The counter and the website share catalog, pricing, customers, and stock, which is what makes click-and-collect and a single stock figure possible.

Odoo Purchase & eCommerce Online demand can drive replenishment through your reordering rules, and dropship routes can send an order straight to a supplier.

Reports and Outputs You Can Generate in Odoo eCommerce

Odoo eCommerce produces the commercial reporting you need to run the store and the documents your customers receive, generated from live order data rather than exported from a separate platform. We also build custom formats through Odoo customization when you need a view the standard reports do not cover.

Online Sales Analysis

Orders and revenue by period, product, category, and channel, sitting alongside your other sales rather than in a separate dashboard.

Product and Category Performance

What sells online by volume, revenue, and configured margin, so merchandising decisions are made on data from the same catalog you buy against.

Abandoned Cart List and Recovery

Carts that were started and not completed, with reminder emails sent where the shopper is logged in or has provided contact details.

Customer and Order History Analysis

Who buys, how often, and what they reorder, drawn from the customer record shared across web, counter, and sales.

Delivery and Fulfillment Status

Which online orders are picked, shipped, and delivered, drawn from the same operations as your other channels.

Online Payment Transaction Reporting

Transactions recorded against each payment provider, which you then reconcile against provider settlements in accounting.

Order Confirmations and Invoices

The confirmations, delivery documents, and invoices your customers receive, produced from your templates and order data.

Key Benefits of Odoo eCommerce

The store and the warehouse are looking at one number

Online orders draw from the same stock as your counter and your sales team, so availability is a single figure rather than three systems agreeing to disagree overnight.

Less middleware between store and ERP

The store, stock, pricing, and accounting share one database, which removes the connector you would otherwise buy, maintain, and debug between a storefront and an ERP.

B2B and B2C from the same catalog

Pricelists let a trade buyer log in and see negotiated pricing while a retail customer sees list price, from one catalog and one database. Where pricing, access, checkout, and tax display differ substantially, Odoo recommends separate websites, which we can run from the same database.

Orders that arrive ready to fulfill

A confirmed order carries the right taxes, delivery method, and invoicing configuration, so fulfillment starts rather than beginning with a correction.

A replatform that protects what you have earned

URL mapping, redirects, metadata, and sitemap validation reduce the risk to rankings you have already paid for, which is the part most store migrations neglect and cannot easily undo afterward.

One customer record across your channels

The person who buys online, walks into your shop, and calls your sales team can be held as a single customer record with one history, which is what makes service and loyalty coherent.

Which Businesses Should Use Odoo eCommerce?

Odoo eCommerce fits businesses that want an online channel running on the same stock, pricing, and books as everything else, and it is strongest where the store is one channel among several. We implement Odoo eCommerce across a range of operations.

Wholesale & Distribution B2B ordering portals with customer-specific pricelists, quantity pricing, fast reordering, and orders that drop straight into picking.

Manufacturing Direct-to-customer and dealer ordering with product variants, made-to-order routes, and orders that can trigger procurement or production.

Non-Profits Merchandise, event, and program sales with stock, fulfillment, and reporting your board and funders can be shown.

Odoo eCommerce Implementation Services We Provide

We deliver end-to-end Odoo eCommerce implementation and setup, taking you from a disconnected storefront to an online channel that runs on your ERP. Our team handles the decisions, tax display, payment, delivery pricing, and URL structure, that determine whether the store converts, bills correctly, and keeps its traffic.

Storefront and Theme Setup

We build your storefront, category structure, and product pages, and we keep theme customization disciplined to reduce maintenance and upgrade risk.

Product Catalog and Variant Publishing

We structure and publish products, variants, attributes, images, and descriptions so the store presents the catalog your business already runs on.

Payment Provider Configuration

We configure and enable your payment providers, test the full flow with live credentials, and confirm nothing is left sitting in test mode.

Delivery Method and Shipping Rate Setup

We configure delivery pricing by fixed rate, rules, or carrier rate, subject to your edition and provider, so shipping is charged rather than absorbed.

Tax Display and Fiscal Position Configuration

We configure tax-included or tax-excluded display and the fiscal positions that apply the right tax by customer location and type, with your finance team.

Stock Availability and Out-of-Stock Rules

We configure what customers see and what they can order when stock is short, so the store does not sell what the warehouse cannot ship.

B2B Portal and Pricelist Setup

We configure logged-in pricing, reordering, and account access so trade customers can serve themselves at their negotiated terms.

SEO Migration and URL Mapping

We map your existing URLs, implement redirects, and configure titles, descriptions, and sitemaps, then validate them after launch, because a replatform without this is how stores lose the traffic they spent years earning.

Cross-Module Connections to Sales, Inventory, and Accounting

We connect the store to the rest of Odoo so an order becomes a delivery and an invoice with less duplicate entry.

Team Training and Go-Live Support

We train the people who will run the catalog, process orders, and update content, and we watch the first live orders through to fulfillment with you.

Our Odoo eCommerce Implementation Process

We follow a structured implementation process that reduces risk and gets your store live without losing the traffic or the orders you have today. Each phase has a clear outcome, so you can see where the project stands.

  1. Discovery: we review your catalog, pricing, tax treatment, delivery costs, payment providers, and your current site’s URLs and rankings.
  2. Blueprint: we define the catalog structure, pricing and tax model, checkout flow, delivery rules, and the URL and redirect map.
  3. Configuration: we build the storefront, publish the catalog, and configure payment, delivery, tax, and stock behavior in your selected Odoo environment.
  4. Data migration: we import products, customers, and order history, and we prepare the redirect map from your existing URLs.
  5. Integration: we connect the store to Sales, Inventory, Accounting, and your payment and delivery providers.
  6. Testing & training: we place real orders end to end, from checkout and payment through delivery and invoice, and we train your team.
  7. Go-live & support: we launch, deploy the redirects, monitor traffic, rankings, and the first orders through to fulfillment, and support your team.

Odoo eCommerce Data Migration Services

We can run your Odoo data migration from Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, or a legacy store into Odoo eCommerce. Migration is where store replatforms most often stumble, and the damage is rarely the catalog: it is the rankings that fall away because nobody mapped the old URLs to the new ones and search engines had nothing to follow.

  • Products, variants, attributes, images, descriptions, and categories
  • Customers, accounts, addresses, and their order history
  • Pricelists, customer-specific pricing, and tax configuration
  • Open orders, outstanding deliveries, and unfulfilled items
  • Coupons, gift card balances, and active promotions
  • A URL map from your existing store, with redirects implemented at launch and validated afterward
  • Validation of prices, taxes, and delivery charges before you take a live order

If a previous migration has already cost you traffic or left your catalog in a poor state, we can stabilize a failed migration and revalidate it.

Odoo eCommerce Automation Services

We automate the order and store admin that grows faster than your team does, using Odoo’s built-in tools and custom workflow automation where needed. Automation is what lets a store grow without hiring someone to re-key orders.

  • Quotations created from carts and confirmed into sales orders once payment is confirmed or a user confirms them
  • Delivery orders created from confirmed online orders through your configured routes
  • Invoices created automatically where online payment is confirmed and the automatic invoice setting is enabled, and raised for review otherwise
  • Replenishment proposals raised when online demand pulls stock below your reordering rules
  • Dropship routes that send an online order straight to the supplier
  • Abandoned cart reminders sent where the shopper is logged in or has provided contact details, under the rules you configure
  • Order confirmation, shipping, and delivery notifications sent to the customer

Odoo eCommerce Customization Services

When the standard application does not cover a requirement, we can extend the standard store workflow and build new capability through custom development. We design customizations to reduce maintenance and upgrade risk, which matters more on a storefront than almost anywhere else, because a heavily modified theme can make future Odoo upgrades slower and more costly.

  • Custom checkout flows, cart logic, and B2B ordering journeys
  • Product configurators for made-to-order and highly configurable goods
  • Custom themes and page templates designed to reduce upgrade risk
  • Integrations with marketplaces, PIM systems, ERPs, and 3PL providers
  • Payment and delivery integrations not supported natively
  • Custom promotions, loyalty mechanics, and subscription commerce

Why Odoo eCommerce Implementations Fail (and How We Prevent It)

Most failed Odoo eCommerce projects fail for a handful of preventable reasons, and the most expensive one does not show up in the software at all: it shows up in your traffic after launch. We’re structured to reduce these risks, and to fix them when another provider has already caused them.

Common failureHow we reduce the risk
Replatforming without a redirect mapWe map old URLs to new ones, deploy redirects at launch, and validate them afterward, because search engines need something to follow when your URLs change.
Tax display wrong for the audienceWe configure tax-included or tax-excluded display and fiscal positions with your finance team, because a B2C store showing prices without tax converts badly and bills wrongly.
A payment provider left in test modeWe test the full payment flow with live credentials and confirm the provider is enabled, because a store that cannot take payment looks identical to a store nobody is buying from.
Shipping cost absorbed, not chargedWe configure delivery pricing against your real cost and test it at checkout, because shipping is where an otherwise profitable order quietly turns negative.
Overselling stock you do not haveWe configure availability display and out-of-stock behavior deliberately, so the store commits only to what you can ship.
A theme that is expensive to upgradeWe keep customization disciplined and structured, because a heavily modified storefront makes future Odoo upgrades slower and more costly.
Orders stuck unconfirmed after checkoutWe configure how each payment method confirms an order, because wire transfer and pay-on-pickup orders can sit as quotations until someone confirms them.

If your Odoo eCommerce is already live but not working, we can stabilize a failed implementation, diagnose the issues, and help restore a store that sells and reports correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Odoo eCommerce free?

Odoo Website and eCommerce are available in Community, and Odoo also offers a One App Free plan for one selected application on Odoo Online with unlimited users. Core online selling is available in Community, including the website builder, product catalog, cart and checkout, customer accounts, pricelists, and the connections into Sales, Inventory, and Accounting. Enterprise provides Odoo’s wider licensed application set and services, including marketplace connectors, marketing automation, Studio, official mobile applications, hosting, support, and upgrade services. Because connector availability also varies by country and provider, we review your requirements through our Odoo Licensing service before recommending an edition.

How does an online order actually become a confirmed order in Odoo?

Odoo creates a quotation when items enter the cart. After checkout, that quotation becomes a confirmed sales order once payment is confirmed, and it can remain a quotation until then. Payment methods such as wire transfer or pay on pickup may require someone to confirm the order manually. Invoicing follows the same logic: an invoice can be created automatically where online payment is confirmed and the automatic invoice setting is enabled, and otherwise it is raised later or on request. We configure how each payment method confirms and invoices, because orders sitting unconfirmed after checkout is a common and avoidable problem.

What happens to my search rankings if I replatform to Odoo?

Your rankings are attached to URLs, so a store that launches on new URLs with nothing pointing from the old ones is likely to lose the traffic those pages earned. We map your existing URLs, implement redirects at launch, carry over titles and descriptions, validate the sitemap, and monitor traffic and rankings afterward. That reduces the risk substantially, though no partner can guarantee rankings or traffic, because search engines still have to reprocess the change. This is the most expensive part of a replatform to neglect and the hardest to recover from later.

Which payment providers and delivery carriers can I use?

Odoo supports a range of payment providers and can price delivery by fixed rate, by rules such as weight or order value, or through a connected carrier for live rates and labels. Availability varies by edition, country, and provider for both. We validate the specific providers and carriers you need before designing checkout around them, configure them, and test the full flow with live credentials before launch.

Can I sell B2B and B2C from the same store?

Odoo supports both from one database, with pricelists applying negotiated pricing to logged-in trade buyers while retail customers see list price. Where pricing, access, checkout, and tax display differ substantially between the two audiences, Odoo recommends running separate websites, which you can do from the same database and catalog. We assess which model fits you rather than forcing both audiences through one storefront.

Can Odoo eCommerce replace Shopify, WooCommerce, or Magento?

Odoo eCommerce may replace them for organizations that want the store running on the same stock, pricing, customers, and accounting as the rest of the business, which is where a standalone platform charges you in connectors and reconciliation. Whether it fits depends on your storefront, marketing, and integration requirements, which we assess before recommending a move. We handle the data move through our Odoo Migration service and plan the redirects with it.

How much does Odoo eCommerce implementation cost, and how long does it take?

Cost depends on the size and complexity of your catalog, the edition, the design and theme work involved, your payment and delivery integrations, the migration and redirect work required, and the customizations you need. A focused store on a clean catalog with standard payment and delivery can go live in a few weeks, while replatforms involving large catalogs, B2B pricing, marketplace connectors, custom themes, and a full redirect map take longer. We scope your requirements and give you a clear estimate and timeline after discovery. See our pricing and licensing details, or schedule a consultation.

What data can be migrated, and what do you need from our team?

We can migrate your store data, including products, variants, images, descriptions, categories, customers and their order history, pricelists, tax configuration, open orders, coupons, and gift card balances, from platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and BigCommerce, together with a URL and redirect map. From you we need your catalog and pricing data, your tax rules from finance, your real delivery costs, your payment provider details, access to your current store and its analytics, and a point of contact for review and testing.
